1. What it is
Vitiligo is a long-term skin condition where white patches appear on the skin.
This change is caused by lack of melanin – the hormone that gives the skin its pigment.
Though it can appear anywhere on the skin, it most commonly occurs on the face, neck, hands and in any skin creases.
Darius says he believes it is caused by a traumatic or stressful experience. The most common type of vitiligo is an autoimmune condition and can indeed be triggered by a stressful event.
