What we’ve learned from 2 years of alopecia areata

Little Claire was born with a full head hair. At around 20 months old, coincidental with the end of a throat infection and a course of antibiotics (which was prescribed because the infection led to persistent fever and she is prone to febrile convulsion), she started getting a condition that we would later find out is clinically known as alopecia areata, in other words ‘partial hair loss’. That was back in September of 2015.

In this post, I’m going to share what we have learned about alopecia, its early signs, and how the first and second year of child alopecia were like for us. I’m going to share our lowest point yet with this alopecia journey, and also a tremendous improvement we saw in the second year.
